Akua Naru – ihre Stimme steht für die Zukunft des weiblichen HipHops . Mit „When The Joy Comes“ kündigt die US-Amerikanerin mit Wahlheimat Köln ihr nächstes Album an, mit dem sie im Herbst 2017 live auf Tour zu erleben ist.
Ihre Musik zeugt nach wie vor von politischer Dringlichkeit und feministischer, intellektueller Poesie. Unter den Jazz- und Soul-infizierten Sound der First Lady des Global Hip Hop mischen sich auf dem neuen Material zusätzlich afrikanische Einflüsse, die von black joy beseelt und inspiriert sind.
